Planning a whole-school Exhibition...

"The quickest way to transform a school is to make student-work public."

-Rob Riordan

Presenting work to a public audience is a big part of Project-Based Learning. It can help to create more motivation for students when their work has an authentic audience. Exhibition is also a tool to help students understand what they've learned and go deeper into their learning when they prepare and do an Exhibition.

As part of our PBL-Experiment program, schools embark on a journey using a 3-week period to try and test Project-Based Learning. At the end of those three weeks, the entire school puts on an Exhibition of Learning for parents and the greater community.

Most schools need help to do this. It's likely a different experience from a normal school "open-house" or parent evening when students take their parents to see their work, have a cup of coffee and go home.

In an Exhibition, the focus is on students presenting their work to all guests. They have prepared their presentation and are ready to answer questions about the process, their products and how they have developed along the way.

Pulling an event like this together takes some coordination.
